GovSG provides system engineering support to assist the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) strategic planning for the Missile Defense System. In this role you will get to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Ground-Based Mid-course Defense (GMD) System Engineering Directorate (GME). The systems engineer will work as part of an Integrated Systems Engineering Team supporting the GME Requirements Division with a primary focus on Command Control Battle Management Communication (C2BMC) interface and interoperability. The systems engineer will provide support and coordination of Prime Contractor/Government activities required to develop a desired capability in accordance with the standard Systems Engineering Lifecycle of a program.
Job Description:
- Represent GMD SE&I in the C2BMC IPT; including providing design review planning support for the engineering technical reviews, aiding with action item closures, participation in wall walks/dry runs leading up to a review and generate charts capturing GME’s overall assessment of readiness to conduct the milestone review.
- Support the GME-Systems Engineering Requirements Division in the development of critical system engineering and integration (SE&I) processes captured in the GM System Engineering Plan (SEP).
- Support the GMD program office in conducting Element Level Milestone Reviews System Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), and Critical Design Reviews (CDR) in accordance with MDA INS 5000.20 that defines the entrance and exit criteria required for each review.
- Support development and review of program requirements including system and element level specifications and Interface Control Documents (ICD) with a focus on C2BMC interface with the GMD system
- Support review of requirements verification and validation plans.
- Coordinate and document results of internal and external program Engineering Review Boards (ERB) and Integration Configuration Control Boards (ICCB)
- Coordinate with multiple government leads and other contractors within the MDA
Minimum Requirements:
- Master Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline required with 12 or more years of relevant experience
- Position requires an active Secret Clearance, Ability to obtain Top Secret
- Demonstrated experience in the development and assessment of technical documentation (drawings, specifications, test reports, operator procedures) necessary to ensure the government’s ability to support fielding, operations and sustainment activities of the weapon system.
- Solid understanding and practical experience formulating technical processes (systems engineering, failure review boards, operational readiness and risk management) for large, complex programs
- Professional work experience in team building and project organization on and coordination with other tools including continuous integration, code quality, and source control management.
- Requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written, verbal, and presentation) and ability to effectively communicate across all engineering disciplines and with non-technical stake holders.
- Understanding of joint network interoperability (Link-16, CMF/VMF, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Solid technical writing and presentation development capability
- Experience with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
- Self-starter who can identify challenges, search out solutions, recommend courses of action to leadership, and implement leadership direction
- Familiarity with GMD Weapon System and prior GMD experience desired
- Familiarity with one or more areas of C2BMC, including but not limited to: track correlation, sensor management (radar and space-based), and MDS functionality/interoperability
Salary Range: $116,112 - $122,223 depending on experience and qualifications
