 Senior QA Engineer

This technical position will report to the QA Manager and ensure that Bluefly delivers the highest quality releases to production. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated and with a solid background in test engineering, knowledge of enterprise systems, and a strong drive to learn new technologies. The successful candidate will leverage creativity and talent in delivering successful projects as they continue to develop and hone their technical skills.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute automated tests using Selenium and Java
  • Collaborate with product management and engineering teams, in an Agile environment, to develop a comprehensive set of tests for our web-based applications
  • Run manual test scripts and maintain automated testing scripts
  • Execute exploratory testing and acceptance of new features as part of a story-driven Agile development process
  • Analyze failed tests and manage defects using the bug reporting tool
  • Design detailed black and white box test strategies, test cases, scripts and suites
  • Perform complex functional, application, regression, and performance tests
  • Define release-candidate acceptance certification
  • Assess level of effort for QA tasks
  • Assess risk of changes to code base and system configurations; present informed recommendations to product owners
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of quality engineering

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in CS, CE, Mathematics or equivalent and at least 6-8 years of Quality Assurance experience including:
    • 4+ years in an Agile environment
    • 3+ years working in a in web / eCommerce environment
  • Skilled in an array of testing methodologies, including the following:
    • Functional
    • Regression
    • System
    • Stress
    • End-to-End
    • Fail-Over
    • Knowledgeable about ecommerce technologies
  • Skilled in automated testing with current tools such as Selenium using Java, Fitnesse, or Watir
  • Skilled in performance testing and analysis with JMeter and/or SilkPerformer
  • Skilled in SQL and basic Linux operations
  • Knowledgeable about quality assurance in an industry-wide context
  • Effective in communicating with clients and executives across a range of industries
  • Proficient in a scripting language such as Ruby, Python, or Perl is a plus
  • Experience in testing iPhone and iPad applications is a plus
  • Experience with ATG, CSC (Customer Support Center) 2007, BCC (Business Control Center) and Endeca a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership in the area of network engineering and security
  • Design and implement a fault tolerant and scalable network infrastructure serving the enterprise
  • Take ownership of the disaster recovery program and continue to make improvements to the plan
  • Provide 24x7 support for system related issues and work to identify problems and resolve them
  • Manage corporate IT team, responsible for supporting Linux, Mac and Microsoft desktops/laptops and user access to corporate network and applications both on the network as well as through remote VPN access.
  • Coordinate and troubleshoot corporate services such as telephony, video conferencing, remote access and mobile.
  • Adjust quickly to changing priorities and make quick decisions with limited information.

Skills/Experience

  • Bachelors degree and 5+ years of network engineering and security for an internet property
  • Experience as a tech lead or manager in Operations or IT
  • Experience in all computing environments: Linux, Mac and PC
  • Experience with Cisco routers and switches
  • Experience with Juniper firewalls
  • Experience with compliance programs, specifically PCI and SOX
  • Experience in developing, measuring and understanding operational metrics
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced 24/7/365 operation that is rapidly growing both in terms of people & scale

Responsibilities:

 

-          Development and maintenance of the Bluefly internal databases

-          Execution and maintenance of existing batch processes

-          Continunuous improvement of enhancing the data support of Bluefly systems.

-          Create scripts and monitors for data issues and batch jobs

-          Recommend and implement process enhancements

-          Support data changes as submitted by business units within Bluefly

-          Work with development teams to support new database testing efforts

 

Qualifications:

 

-          Bachelors degree

-          1- 2 years of database experience, retail experience perferred

-          Strong SQL skills supporting database systems

-          Experience with MS Excel

-          Ability to read XML and debug scripts.

-          Linux experience a plus

Responsibilities:

·         Lead the development effort in the design, coding, and deployment of core components for a high volume E-Commerce system based on a Java and ATG running on JBoss and Oracle.

·         Lead off-shore development teams, providing technical direction and code reviews.

·         Provide oversight with the review of technical designs, test plans and project plans.

·         Enhance existing features, debug and correct system bugs and implement minor change requests

·         Provide technical subject matter expertise to the Business Analyst, Project Manager and Business Sponsor throughout all phases of development.

·         Design and implement various eCommerce/transaction processing components to work within Model 2 (MVC) web applications and stand alone batch processing applications.

·         Mentor Java Developers and Junior Java Developers on proper Object Oriented Design, performance tuning and perform both design and code reviews.

·         Participate in the continuous refinement of a standardized, structured e-application development methodology and process

·         Design/architect extensible technical solutions with adequate documentation (state charges, flow diagrams, class diagrams etc.)

·         Create accurate time estimates and consistently hit code complete deadlines.

Qualifications:

 

·         BA or BS Degree in Computer Science or related degree required

·         Must have a strong development background with at least 6 years experience developing in Java and 6 or more years experience with Java-based server side packages (JSP, Tag Libraries, JMS, etc)

·         Have extensive project experience and be capable to effectively and quickly leverage that experience to create solutions and solve problems

·         Experience with Scrum and/or agile development processes.

·         Experience using source code control software and bug tracking software with a preference to those that have strong subversion skills with experience performing branches and merges

·         6+ years working in an internet-related systems development or net-centric architecture in a B2B or B2C business environment

·         A solid understanding of database technologies from a developer and data modeler standpoint: Minimum of 6 years commercial experience in development with Enterprise-level databases (Oracle, MS SQL Server, etc.) including at least some experience with performance tuning and data modeling

·         Experience with AJAX, XML, Spring, Hibernate, Endeca, Coremetrics are desired, but not required

·         iPhone, iPad, Droid development experience desired, but not required

·         Experience with UML diagrams and their proper use in the development lifecycle required

·         Working knowledge of Object Oriented design patterns and their appropriate application required

·         Strong communications skills (presentation and documentation), interpersonal skills and the desire/ability to work with a team of developers required

·         Demonstrable experience with a java based e-commerce application software package or large framework (ATG, Struts, Spring MVC etc.)

·         Keen understanding of structured development methods throughout the entire development lifecycle

·         Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly
